High Plains Cotton Conference

The High Plains Cotton Conference, hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, will be held Feb. 1 at The Event Center, 622 E. D Ave., Spearman.

The free program will begin at 8 a.m. with registration, followed by the program from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The program will include:

  • Cotton Preseason Decisions, Dr. Murilo Maeda, AgriLife Extension cotton specialist, Lubbock, and Dr. Jourdan Bell, AgriLife Extension agronomist, Amarillo.
  • Cotton Marketing, Dr. John Robinson, AgriLife Extension economist-cotton marketing, College Station.
  • Resistant Weed Management, Dr. Peter Dotray, AgriLife Extension weed specialist, Lubbock.
  • Cover Crops and Soil Health, Dr. Katie Lewis, Texas A&M AgriLife Research soil scientist, Lubbock.
  • Farm Bill Update, Dr. George Knapek, Texas A&M University agricultural economics professor, College Station.
  • Insect Issues, Dr. Ed Bynum, AgriLife Extension entomologist, Amarillo.
  • Disease and Nematode Management, Dr. Terry Wheeler, AgriLife Research plant pathologist, Lubbock.
  • Soil and Water Relationships, Dr. Dana Porter, AgriLife Extension irrigation specialist and program leader for engineering, Lubbock.
